More than 600 USANA employees in Utah enjoy impressive workplace benefits, including free onsite workout facilities and two personal fitness trainers, an annual profit-sharing program, free company health products, excellent health and life insurance packages, regular health fairs and voluntary fitness contests. The year-long selection process for Outside’s “Best Places to Work” list began with an outreach effort that identified a wide range of non-profit and for-profit organizations working in the United States. Participating companies were then sent confidential employee-satisfaction surveys and employer questionnaires to collect information about benefits, compensation, policies, job satisfaction, environmental initiatives and community outreach programs. All of the results were analyzed and the 30 companies that best enable employees to balance productivity with an active, eco-conscious lifestyle were selected.

“These 30 companies share a common belief: that the secret to success in any economy is empowering employees to live balanced lives and remain committed to their communities and the environment,” said Michael Roberts, Executive Editor of Outside. “Our winners know that happy workers are good for the bottom line. So even in the current financial storm, they’re offering on-site fitness classes and massage, reimbursements for gym memberships and ski passes, flexible hours, amazing travel benefits, and opportunities for on-the-clock community service.”

Daily Intake Of Fish Oil - Omega 3

Studies report that the daily intake of fish oils is unique to Icelanders. It starts with small children and continues with even the oldest adults. Taking the "golden oil of the sea" - Omega-3 fish oils unusually rich in essential fatty acids EPA and DHA - every day is at the center of their remarkable longevity and health.

Scientific studies from around the world demonstrate that EPA and DHA have a profound impact on maintaining good health, helping to prevent and control serious health disorders, including heart disease, cardiovascular disease, and numerous autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Key findings include:

1. EPA & DHA - essential for good health. EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) is necessary to create prostaglandins to promote superior cardiovascular health and optimal cell membrane formation. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is vital for proper development and functioning of the brain, eyes, and autoimmune system.

2. Promotes arterial flexibility: Omega-3 fatty acids promote the flexibility and elasticity of coronary arteries. Without Omega-3, artery walls can become hard, with microscopic cracks and pockets that can become receptacles for life-threatening cholesterol.

3. Fights joint disease: Omega-3 fatty acids maintain cell and joint suppleness, even decreasing pain and tenderness and the need for anti-inflammatory drugs.

4, Increases brain function: Omega-3 promotes neurotransmission in the brain, and increases intellectual capacity.

5. Positive effect on cholesterol: Omega-3 helps increase HDL ("good" cholesterol), and decrease LDL ("bad" cholesterol).

6. Lowered triglycerides: No other natural compound to date seems to be more effective than Omega-3 to lower triglycerides, a major risk factor for heart disease.

7. Reduced risk of blood clots: Omega-3 lowered fibrinogen, which converts to fibrin, the main component of blood clots and thrombi, which can cause heart disease.

8. Lowered chance of heart attack: Lipoprotein(a) which contributes to myocardial infarction is markedly reduced by intake of Omega-3.

9. Recommended for diabetics: Omega-3 fish oils provide all these positive benefits without risk of increasing blood sugar.

10. Fights signs of aging: Skin is one of the fastest reproducing cell networks in body and needs Omega-3 fatty acids to replenish and maintain the optimum cellular moisture balance. Without these essential fatty acids, skin cells age prematurely.

The healthful benefits of Omega-3, also known as poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), have been shown to increase the longer you take it.

The recommended intake is approximately 1,000 mg daily, but higher doses can be taken for the treatment of specific disease problems upon the direction of your health advisor.

Icelanders are living proof of the importance of Omega-3 fatty acids, and as USANA Biomega is proven the PUREST and CHEAPEST in the market, now you can take the same Omega-3 as Icelanders.

USANA Products Recognised By NSF

USANA has successfully met all listing criteria in NSF/ANSI 173 Dietary Supplements Standard and obtained certification of its ESSENTIALS™ (MEGA ANTIOXIDANT and CHELATED MINERAL), PROFLAVANOL® 90, and HEALTHPAK 100™. USANA also received Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Registration through NSF International’s Dietary Supplements Certification Program.

USANA has an unwavering commitment to research and development, established by the company’s founder, microbiologist and immunologist Myron Wentz, Ph.D. A world-renowned pioneer in cell-culture technology, Dr. Wentz is committed to applying a high level of scientific expertise, technical brilliance, and dedication to creating breakthrough approaches to nutritional wellness.

Founded in 1992, USANA Health Sciences is a science-based company that develops advanced nutritional, personal care, and weight management products, which are distributed in 13 international markets through network marketing. The name “USANA” derives from Greek and Latin and means “true health.”

USANA’s scientific staff includes experts on human nutrition, cellular biology, biochemistry, natural product chemistry, and clinical research. Scientific results from a variety of sources including distinguished scientific literature and cooperative clinical studies are incorporated into product development and design. Company scientists also are involved in numerous in-house clinical trials to ensure the quality and reliability of USANA products.

Still, poor manufacturing can destroy even the most scientifically advanced formulas. For this reason, USANA continues to be one of a few companies in its industry to manufacture the vast majority of its own products. By voluntarily following current cGMPs, USANA is demonstrating its continued commitment to quality. Every USANA dietary supplement product carries a potency promise that ensures what is on the label is in the product. Also, to ensure that the formulas developed in its laboratories are of the highest quality for customers, USANA has opened its manufacturing facilities to regular third-party audits.

In 2006, USANA successfully met all listing criteria in NSF/ANSI 173 Dietary Supplement Standard and received certification for its ESSENTIALS™ (MEGA ANTIOXIDANT and CHELATED MINERAL), PROFLAVANOL® 90, and HEALTHPAK 100™ product lines.

These criteria include:
1. Formulation review,
2. Facility audit,
3. Product testing,
4. Documentation

That same year, USANA also received GMP Registration through NSF International’s Dietary Supplement Certification program after meeting all requirements included in NSF’s GMP Registration Program, which includes demonstrating compliance with current dietary supplement GMPs.

“By obtaining dietary supplement certification and GMP registration, USANA is raising the bar on quality for other manufacturers within the industry to follow,” said Kristen Holt, Senior Vice President, NSF Dietary Supplements Programs.

This product assurance has helped USANA establish partnerships to provide nutritional supplements exclusively to several professional athletic organizations including the Sony-Ericsson WTA Tour, the U.S. and Canadian Speedskating Teams, and the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. USANA has set the standard for excellence in dietary supplement manufacturing and affirmed its commitment to providing “Nutritionals You Can Trust.”

USANA’s BiOmega™ Fish Oil Supplement Approved By ConsumerLab.com

SALT LAKE CITY—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 17, 2008—USANA Health Sciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: USNA), today announced that its BiOmega™ fish oil supplement was evaluated and approved by ConsumerLab.com, LLC. A leading provider of independent product test results and information, ConsumerLab.com helps consumers and healthcare professionals evaluate health and wellness products.

ConsumerLab.com reviewed BiOmega as part of a larger evaluation of dietary supplements sold in the United States that claim to contain omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). Products were tested for their omega-3 levels; mercury, lead and PCB contamination; and signs of decomposition. BiOmega received an approved rating in all three testing categories. The review can be found on the company’s Web site at www.consumerlab.com.

ConsumberLab.com stated in its product review that the quality of fish oil and other omega-3 supplements is an important issue because supplement levels vary depending on the source and method of processing. Fish also can have accumulated toxins that could potentially contaminate a supplement. USANA uses a double molecular distillation process to manufacture its BiOmega supplement, ensuring the highest possible purity from mercury, PCBs, pesticides and other heavy metals.

“We are happy to see the results from the ConsumerLab.com trial, but we are not surprised,” said Dr. Tim Wood, USANA executive vice president of research and development. “These results confirm our extensive in-house testing. USANA is committed to only the highest quality manufacturing and analytical testing systems and practices. We are very pleased to receive independent confirmation of the quality and purity of BiOmega from this test.”
